ALPTITUDE

Even leaders need a tribe

Alptitude is coming to back to the USA in 2018

MOUNT HOOD
OREGON 13-20 OCTOBER 2018

The now legendary Alptitude is an invite-only event that's out of the norm. A week where you'll have the time and space to figure out where you're at with your life and work, whilst having more fun than you've had in years. This is the future of business events – emergent, playful and transformational.

Brought to you by The Happy Startup School and Dream Valley Projects and now in its third year, Alptitude brings together 25 purpose-driven entrepreneurs and changemakers from around the world for a unique, meaningful experience in stunning natural surroundings.

The lucky few that come leave with a renewed vigour for life,  a ton of game-changing ideas to implement, but most importantly a shared experience and group of new friends that will stick with them forever. Friends they never knew they needed, but now can't live without.

Read on to discover how you can be part of it

Two weeks ago, I went on an adventure that was pure magic. There is no other word to describe the experience that is Alptitude. On Sunday, as I drove around the base of Mt. Hood, I had a pit in my stomach and throat. I knew I had signed up for a 7-day retreat/camp/experience thing that was going to help me clarify my business goals, but there were so many unknowns. There was no agenda, just a loose schedule of outdoor activities pending the looming storm ahead, seven days of unstructured time, and strangers from different corners of the world. Somehow, in seven days, we were going to build enough trust to have conversations that would help each of us walk through some of our most challenging crossroads in our business and personal lives? Well, that’s what we did. And not just at the end of seven days. By Monday evening, it felt like we had known each other for several days. By Wednesday, it felt like a week had passed. I had no idea how much I needed Alptitude — a break from constantly trying to figure it all out, and a moment to just play, breathe, and reconnect. And after bonding over bike rides, hikes, river rafting, hot tubbing under the milky way, and impromptu midnight dance parties to Shania Twain and Snoop Dogg, we encountered deep discussions around business health, personal wealth, and sharing. I have so much gratitude for the space that Laurence and Carlos have created.

OUR HOME FOR THE WEEK

Mount Hood

OUR HOME FOR THE WEEK

Expect a week like no other

Alptitude USA will take place from 13-20 October 2018 at Mount Hood, Oregon.

We'll be heading to the Pacific Northwest, also known as the independent republic of Cascadia. This eco-friendly, liberal and ruggedly region is well known as the green pocket in America’s upper-left corner with a passion for farm-to-table produce, organic wineries and local microbreweries. The region is split by the spine of the stunning Cascade Mountains.

BASE

Located in the midst of the majestic Mount Hood National Forest in Oregon, our base is close by to Hood River and Portland. Its perpetually snowy peak — crowned by eleven glaciers can be seen for miles.

HIKE

For the more adventurous the afternoons offer the opportunity for incredible hikes, mountain bike trails and white wafter rafting down spellbinding ravines.

PLAY

Expect early-morning wellbeing activities such as yoga or mindful walks by stunning streams, followed by nutritious breakfasts.

REST

Cooper Spur Resort will be our home for the week. Surrounded by pine trees, beautiful meadows and pristine waters. You'll fall in love with its rustic mountain lodge, log cabins and farm to table restaurant.

EAT

Communal gatherings are where the group bonds. From wood-fired pizza to BBQs, expect a culinary delight. Some days we'll take a sack lunch if on a hike.

SEE

We'll get to see natural wonders like the Columbia River Gorge, one of the seven natural wonders of Oregon, which boasts a world of wine in just a 40-mile stretch

I have never been to anything like this before with such a diverse group of people. What stood out for me is the level of respect and openness I’ve experienced with some people I wouldn’t normally hang out with. My mind was blown several times that week! Also, it’s rare to be part of an event and feel called to stand true and to serve and share our gifts. The humanity and nature combined made it a deeply nourishing experience. It feels like being part of a tribe and knowing my place in the world.

A magical formula

PEOPLE

We always look to get a diverse mix of founders, leaders and changemakers from around the world, but with shared values and mindset. Your hosts will be Laurence McCahill and Carlos Saba, the founders of The Happy Startup School, who've been creating meaningful experiences like these for more than 5 years.

History tells us that bringing a small group of inspiring people to a stunning place like the wilds of Oregon can only lead to magical things.

SPACE

The real value is in the interactions with your peers through both conversation and group sessions – these are dependent on who's in the room, but at previous events we've had workshops on Money as a Mirror, Very Clear Ideas, Surviving & Thriving as an Entrepreneur and Building Communities of Purpose, to name a few.

Unlike most events we leave lots of space for anyone to share their story, run a session or get help on a challenge they might be facing. It's in the in-between bits where the real magic happens. So we don't cram the schedule.

STORIES

It’s hard to describe what it is about Alptitude that makes it such an amazing experience. Partly it’s to do with the magnificent mountains.Partly it’s to do with being somewhere different. But key to it are the wonderful people you meet and the deep connections you make in a very short time. When life looks overly complicated and decisions seem too big sometimes a quiet word and an understanding ear can create the small shift you need to make everything much more clear.

I have had breakthroughs for myself and helped others achieve theirs. The balance between moderation, serendipity and activity, was perfect for me. I will cherish the experience, the friends I made and the memories I keep.
— Jeroen Meens, Netherlands
We experience breakthroughs in technology everyday. AI, machine learning and virtual reality are but a few of the buzzwords that point to a new future. But what about a breakthrough in who you are and who you surround yourself with? What if you could spend 7 days in a place where you can upgrade your business skills, relationships and leave with a brighter view of your future self and humanity? Sounds almost as crazy as a world of self-driving cars and leisure trips into space doesn’t it? But those things already exist and so does this place. I know because I did it. It’s called Alptitude and you can do it too — and you should.
